The Department of the History of Art Slide and Photograph Collection is considered one of the finest teaching collections of its type in the world. The quality of materials, the breadth of coverage, and the in-depth cataloging distinguish it from other collections. Currently the collections total over 500,000 images in the form of 35mm slides, lantern slides, photographs, and reproductions. The scope of the collection includes ancient, Islamic, Asian, African, European, and American art objects and monuments. All materials in the collection are covered by the copyright law of the United States, which prohibits duplication of the collection's holdings. A summary of collection selections for the SILS Art Image Browser is available.
